My name is Kevin — although most people know me simply as ‘Farmer Kev’.
Paul's Farm is a small, family-run working farm with just over 300 acres of arable land. Alongside the farm, we have a 40-stable livery yard, a farm shop, a fabrication business, honeybees, and of course… our much-loved October pumpkin patch.
My family's farming roots are in Hesketh Bank, where they still farm today.
Back in 1939, just before the outbreak of the Second World War, my great-grandfather bought Paul's Farm for my grandad. We're still not entirely sure who Paul was — most likely a previous owner whose story has been lost to history — but we like to think he'd be proud of how the farm has grown, diversified, and remained part of the local community.
We're also fairly sure he'd be delighted to have a pumpkin patch named after him, and to see so many families enjoying the countryside each autumn.
The idea for our patch was inspired by several autumn trips to visit my son in the United States, where pumpkins and Halloween are taken very seriously.
So, back in 2021, I decided to plant a few thousand pumpkin plants here at Paul's Farm to see what would happen. Would they grow? Would they produce pumpkins? Would they make amazing soup? Would anyone want to visit us and buy them? Thankfully, the answer to all of these was a resounding yes.
Since then, we've been blown away by the continued support and feedback we've received. It's been humbling to welcome so many visitors who now choose Paul's Farm as the place to pick their perfect pumpkin.
At Paul's Farm Pumpkin Patch, we're committed to keeping the experience accessible for everyone. Because the patch is run entirely by volunteers, our overheads stay lower — which means we can offer great value for money, while still providing a genuine farm experience, complete with mud, muck, wildlife, and plenty to learn about countryside life.
We're proud to work closely with local businesses and charities each year, helping to strengthen community ties and share the magic of farming with families who may not otherwise get the chance to experience it.
As I say, none of this would be possible without our incredible volunteers, whose support stretches far beyond the pumpkin patch weekends. Throughout the year, they help us plan the event, plant the seeds, prepare the patch, and keep everything running smoothly when visitors arrive. 2026 marks our sixth year of opening the pumpkin patch, and we've grown lots of varieties for you to enjoy. We've also made improvements around the farm to help make your visit even better.
